Animal Welfare
-
Saga Furs through its strict certification system actively contributes to the advancement of animal welfare on fur farms. WelFur certification is the most important tool in the measurement of animal welfare but also Saga Certification has tools for assess.
-
In addition to certification, traceability in the production chain is increasingly important. In 2010, Saga Furs created a pelt traceability programme that enables manufacturers to trace the origin of each pelt lot down to individual farms.
-
Saga Certification by Finnish Standards, with WelFur inside, is a unique farm management system producing the highest level of animal welfare. Responding to demand from global brands and the next generation of consumers on sustainability and animal welfare, Saga Furs has continually developed its certification programme to ensure it meets the high standards that go well beyond what the law requires. As a result, Saga Furs has become the trusted partner of the fashion industry in providing sustainable and ethical furs.

In 2009, Fur Europe (Europe’s association for fur) went beyond regulation and initiated WelFur. With an aim to develop an impartial, thorough, and detailed evaluation tool for assessing the welfare of farmed mink and fox, Kopenhagen Fur supported the development of these new protocols.
After all, high-quality fur is at the core of what we do. And as healthy animals produce superior furs, taking animal welfare seriously makes both business and ethical sense.
-
The fur industry has been highly regulated in Western Europe for decades, and was the first type of livestock farming to benefit from welfare regulations. At Kopenhagen Fur, we’ve always ensured that our skins are the result of farming that has met the highest animal welfare standards. But when it comes to ethical fur production and creating industry standards, it can be difficult to define what factors ensure optimal animal welfare. The European Commission’s Welfare Quality® project looked to the scientific community to define what represents good animal welfare, and as a result, established the following four welfare principles: Good Housing, Good Feeding, Good Health and Appropriate Behaviour. WelFur bases their protocol on the same four principles.
-
Today's consumers care about where their fur products come from and how they are produced – and the Danish mink farming trade understands that animal welfare is often an important part of the purchasing decision. The introduction of WelFur will secure even more openness and documentation for our trade. Fur production is already highly regulated through a variety of international agreements, laws, and standards for many years. At Kopenhagen Fur, we work closely with the local Danish farmers to ensure open knowledge sharing and the optimal relationship with those who deliver skins to us.
-
One of fur’s greatest attributes is the fact that it is a renewable resource. Unlike biodegradable fur, plastic-based textiles are non-renewable, and end up in landfills or in oceans and waterways.
Fur Europe sponsored the independent testing of different types of fur to assess their biodegradation qualities. The testing was carried out by Organic Waste Systems (OWS), an independent laboratory that conforms to ISO 17025, and is recognised by global certification bureaus that have focus on biodegradability and compostability.
Focusing on dyed and undyed mink fur, dyed and undyed fox fur, and fake fur, the testing took place over a 30-day period, and under conditions like those at a landfill.
-
Kopenhagen Fur has actively been involved with several different dressing houses to run trials with a goal of finding increasingly environmentally-friendly dyeing methods. The dressing and dyeing process currently uses a limited number of chemical substances that are non-hazardous, such as alum, and the process is already tightly regulated by the European Union’s REACH directives2.
The European Union’s REACH directives are an excellent example of how international cooperation can lead to a more sustainable future. The directives determine the rules and regulations for the use of chemicals used in processing methods within the EU and to goods imported to the EU.

About Woven Fabric
-
After the first few times you wear your new cashmere sweater, you may notice some small hairballs floating on the surface of the garment. These are naturally curly, loose cashmere fibers that get tangled up due to friction while wearing. This is a natural characteristic of cashmere and is not a problem of quality or weaving technique. These small hairballs can be removed with scissors or by using a cashmere comb and special de-hairballing equipment.
-
Our products in the production process has a pre-shrinkage of this process, can improve the shrinkage characteristics of the fabric, normal cold water gentle hand wash is not shrinkage.

Velvet clothes are generally dirty can use a small soft brush to gently brush the dirty place, not too heavy will change color. Can also be gently rubbed by hand. If it is oil stains can only use cotton cloth or absorbent paper towels to absorb the oil stains, and then ask the professional leather clothing laundry to have a cleaner to remove oil stains. You can't use harsh liquids. Like suede clothing should be cleaned frequently, otherwise the dirt will accumulate and be difficult to dispose of.
I recommend that you go to a professional leather care store to take care of, if you do it yourself, it is easy to make the clothes more serious damage.
